LDS.ORG has come out with a beautiful theme to help the world focus more on the Savior during the month of December. I love this. Even though I don't have a little family that I'm teaching the gospel to, I can be a little light in this big world.
Will you join me by doing small acts of kindness each day? Here is the Advent Calendar to follow along.
Day 1: "Jesus lifted others' burdens and so can you. No shoulders have ever borne as much as those of Jesus Christ. By
descending below all things, Jesus put Himself in a position to lift our
burdens. When we lend our strength to those who are weighed down by
life’s challenges, even the heaviest load can be made lighter."
I felt today that I didn't really make the effort to get out and serve anyone. But as I look back at my day, even though I was home most of the day I realized that I did serve a few people.
This morning a friend, who has 2 small children and has a husband in Law School posted on our RS FB page that she needed help with a dead battery, but as I was calling her she was already receiving help. I kind of felt like I missed the boat. But she called me back and we had a lovely 45 minute phone conversation. I think that we both served each other by talking with each other. I'm sure she at times feels consumed by her small children and her husband isn't home much. She told me at the end of our conversation that I was an inspiration to her. I hope that I was an answer to her prayers today.
My cousin has been doing her senior project raising funds for Colleens Dream. To finish her projects she had to interview me. Tonight she poised questions to me and I answered them. Many of them got me thinking a lot. It made me happy that I was able to help her
Service makes one happy, whether it's a big or small act. Find someone who needs your service. You will be happy you did. I'm grateful for the Savior who lifts my burdens.
You are always a light like the SUN to everyone!! I'm trying to be a light this month to like when this guy gave me the finger for accidently cutting him off I just smiled and waved instead of running into the back of his car!!
